Kneeboard Plus — Privacy Policy

The app itself is titled "Kneeboard" on your device (its App Store listing name is "Kneeboard Plus," since "Kneeboard" was already taken) — this page and the in-app copy describe the same single app. This page exists so App Store Connect has a live URL to link to.

Kneeboard Plus ("the app") is provided by digiXL Inc. This explains what the app collects and why.

What we collect

• Account: when you Sign in with Apple, we receive a stable identifier and, if you share it, your name and email.
• Training records: skills, proficiency, sign-offs, debriefs, homework, lesson plans, calendar entries, and profile details you enter.
• Audio: lesson debriefs are transcribed on your device using Apple's Speech framework. Audio is not stored or uploaded.

How your data is stored

Records are stored in Apple iCloud (CloudKit) — in your private database and in zones shared only with the instructor(s) or student(s) you are linked to — and locally on your device. digiXL Inc. does not run its own servers for this data, with one exception: the text of a lesson debrief passes through a small proxy server we operate solely to protect our AI-service credentials in transit — it is not stored there.

Third parties

• Apple: iCloud/CloudKit storage, Sign in with Apple, push notifications.
• Anthropic: the text of a debrief is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract a structured lesson record. Avoid including sensitive personal information in a debrief.

What we don't do

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. We also never see or store your payment details — Kneeboard's subscription is sold entirely through Apple's In-App Purchase, and Apple handles and holds all billing information.

Your control

Training records belong to the student and travel with them. You can delete your account and data in the app (Settings → App → Delete Account) or end an instructor–student link at any time.

Kneeboard Plus — Terms of Service

By using Kneeboard Plus you agree to these terms.

The service

Kneeboard Plus helps flight instructors and students record lessons and track training progress. It is a memory and organization aid.

Not a system of record

Kneeboard Plus is NOT an official logbook or record of flight time. The student's FAA logbook and the instructor's own logbook remain the authoritative records. Do not rely on Kneeboard Plus for regulatory compliance.

AI-generated content

Lesson summaries are generated by AI from your spoken debrief and may contain errors. Always review and edit before saving. Proficiency and sign-offs are confirmed by the instructor, never by the app alone.

Subscription & billing

• Kneeboard Plus for CFIs is offered as a monthly auto-renewing subscription ($5.99/month). New CFIs get 30 days of full access with no purchase required before a subscription is ever needed.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to that.
• Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or via Kneeboard Plus's own Settings → Account → Manage Subscription.
• Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its own refund policies — Kneeboard does not process refunds directly.
• Student accounts are always free and never require a subscription.

Kneeboard is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Features may change over time.
